The IS Pro utilizes Fujifilm’s Super CCD Pro and Real Photo Processor Pro technology to see light from the ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR) portion of the spectrum (approx. 380nm – 1000nm). It also benefits from compatibility with Nikon F mount lenses and Nikon iTTL flash systems, making it a cost effective solution for law enforcement agencies that already have Nikon components. It also has a specially formulated protective CCD glass filter that was designed to help protect the Super CCD Pro from dust and general maintenance damage while maximizing its UV and IR gathering potential.
Live Preview Updates
A New quick activate one-touch Live Image Preview (black and white) mode has been added that can be activated by pressing the “Display/Back” button for three seconds. This makes fast access to Live Preview mode much easier when used on forensic copy stand tables in dark room environments. Its Mirror Lock-Up and Shutter Delay features also aid in reducing image blur during long exposures.
To further improve the process, the Live Image Preview can be digitally magnified and brightness adjusted to improve focusing accuracy or to compensate for light intensity. The video image can also be viewed on an NTSC/PAL monitor or on the PC over the camera’s USB 2.0 connection directly from Fujifilm’s optional HyperUtility HS-V3 software.
TIFF MODE /Bar Code Reading
An optional IS Pro firmware upgrade due out in October will support in camera TIFF file formats in three resolutions. In addition, Fujifilm USA will offer an optional Bar Code Scanner option that allows for alpha-numeric data read by the bar code reader directly into the IS Pro’s image file as part of the EXIF header in JPEG, TIFF and RAW file formats. This data can later be recalled so that images are synched to databases using special software programs.
Examples: Bar codes of driver’s licenses, employee IDs, automotive VIN tags, credit cards, evidence tags, or any object with a bar code can be recorded directly to the camera. The same can also be accomplished with an RS232 magnetic card reader.

Filters and Alternative Light Systems (ALS)
Two of the kits above contain nine forensic filters include the most common yet hard to find set of filters that most forensic specialists use during investigations. The filters are high quality glass and are sized for 67mm filter threaded lenses. Most common investigative macro lenses have thread mounts between 55mm and 67mm. This special kit contains step rings that can be used to accommodate lens filter thread mounts of 55mm, 58mm (Fujifilm IS-1), 62mm, and 67mm (Zeiss 50mm Macro).
#916 UVIR Cut Filter (Camera Sees Only Visible Light)
#900 (18a) UV Filter (Camera sees UV and IR Light and no Visible Light, used with a hot mirror the camera sees only UV light)
#902 (70)
#904 (87)
#906 (87a)
#908 (87b)
#910 (87c)
#912 (88a)
#914 (89b)
Other forensic filters are often required but are vastly more common and available on the market such as the Yellow 2 (8), Red 25, Orange 16, Orange 21, and IR hot mirror. These filters are often used as barrier filters during UV fluorescing techniques. IR light starts to pass around 655nm just inside the high end of the red light area of the spectrum. UV light exists below 400nm, which means visible is between 400 and 700nm. Filters are often stacked together to isolate specific wave lengths or to view fluoresced light from a target and often in combination with an Alternative Light Source (ALS). Fujifilm USA’s ALS partner is HORIBA Jobin Yvon, Inc. at. Their web site offers useful information on ALS systems and common filters often used in conjunction with ALS systems. http://www.crimescope.com
